Will my first appointment include treatment?
Whilst it’s often important to start with a detailed case history and conduct a clinical examination we try to include hands on or electrotherapy treatment on the first appointment wherever possible. The only exceptions to this may be where a client has chosen our 30 min new patient appointment or for initial assessment / suitability appointments for (IDD) spinal decompression therapy.
Do I need a referral letter from my GP or consultant?
No, whilst it’s a “nice to have” it’s not necessary if you are a self pay client, the vast majority of our self pay client just ring up book in (self refer)! If you plan on seeing us as an insured client (e.g. AXA) then your insurer may require you to be referred to us by your GP or specialised in order to authorise funding, so it would be best to check with them.
How frequent are the treatments you recommend?
This can vary depending on your problem, the treatment you are receiving and how acute your condition is. On average we advise clients to attend one or twice a week during the “first aid” phase of their treatment course, after that for chronic or degenerative problems that required maintenance sessions to maintain the progress these tend to be once every one to four months.
Will you try and sign me up to lengthy and expensive courses of treatment?
We don’t do high pressure or exaggerated scare tactics sales that you might hear about from other clinics, our ethos is focused on “patients’ (needs) before profit”. We believe in simple, good old fashioned advice, that’s as honest and ethical as possible. We say it as it is, then it’s up to you. We will give you an Action Plan or recommended treatment and advise, one thing you can be assured on is that this is based around established clinical guidelines and will never include more treatment than we genuinely think is necessary. For most conditions this is usually between 3 to 6 treatments, the exception being for spinal decompression which generally requires more sessions for maximum results
What happens during my first appointment?
You will greeted in reception then taken through to the treatment room. Firstly you will be asked a series of medical questions, we will then assess you by observing your posture, and feeling the movement and tissue quality of your muscles and joints (this may require the removal of some clothing). We then formulate and give you a treatment plan (Action Plan) to take home, this include written advice, we usually start this at your initial appointment. If there are any exercises for you to do we can arrange for video clips and detailed hand outs to be emailed to you. You will then be invited to pay for treatment (if you are self finding) and booking a follow up appointment(s) appropriate to you.

The clinic has good specialists and modern technologies to deal with any types of spinal pain or injuries. We found that clinic because they had the IDD therapy, which is more safe and effective treatment for spinal disc issues. We were appointed to a great doctor Akin Celik that combines professionalism with a genuine warmth and friendliness that allows you to feel calm, reassured and in good hands throughout the appointment. Most importantly, of course, he really knows what he is doing and has experience with advanced spine problems. This is a really reliable place to go to if you have any type of back pain. I sincerely recommend this place.

Akin and Rob were fantastic with me. I tore a disc in my L4 / L5 vertebrae doing weights back in August. I went to them a complete wreck both emotionally and physically. After 20 odd sessions of IDD and intermittent tecar and I have made a full recovery. Akin was there every step of the way to support me and ease any concerns I had along the way.
